In the second half of my teenage years, when mobile phones with a macro function appeared, I tested them with great curiosity on a few insects. While analyzing the many photographs, I became aware of how fascinating and astonishing life is taking place around us at ground level. Most people do not even suspect the magical mysteries of all this until they dive deeper into it, and we also tend to forget that without pollinators and insects, the Earth as we know it today would be a very unfriendly place.

The idea for the book was born purely by chance. During a graphic design course, we were given complete freedom for a specific homework assignment to create a magazine cover. I started brainstorming what kind of images I should work with, and on the suggestion of a good friend, I created a cover using several of my insect photographs. This was followed by a few illustrated pages, which I further developed with written descriptions. An unstoppable project started in my mind. At that point, I decided that I wanted to turn it into a complete book, which eventually became reality after years of work, once I had acquired the most suitable camera for this ambitious plan, along with a macro lens. The book is educational in nature, aiming to help readers of any age understand and discover the hidden little world of arthropods. One strict condition during the creation process was that I wanted to produce it entirely on my own, so apart from the professional scientific review, the entire content from my own photographs to the written text and graphic elements is all my own work.
